Key information

Don’t leave spare keys for the windows, doors and car lying around . Try and make the thief leave by the same way they entered. This will almost certainly reduce the amount of time they are in the premises but may also prevent them from removing larger items (if they broke in through a window for example).

Keys kept as spares in case you lose your main set are always best left with a neighbour, friend or relative, never leave keys in the door locks.

Be especially careful with your spare car keys, don’t give the thief their getaway vehicle!
