Going away on holiday - keep your home safe

Your property is at its most vulnerable when you are not at home, so it’s important that thieves do not know when you are away. This means making sure that from the outside it still looks as though your property is occupied.

Deliveries

When you go away remember to stop any deliveries  which would make it obvious you are not at home. Milk & newspapers are the favourites.

Lights

Put timers on lights and lamps so that they automatically switch the light on and off as programmed

Noise

Put a radio on a timer or leave it permanently switched on, preferably to a station where there is more talking than music.

Curtains

If possible ask a neighbour to close the curtains at night and open them again in the morning.
