Getting started with contents insurance
You have to make sure that you cover all the contents in your house. The best way to start is make a check list by splitting your house in to rooms. Go through each room and write down all of he objects, furniture and valuables in each room.
Next consider a value for each of the items and write them down in a list, total this up per room to give you a room total contents to be insured.
If you add all the rooms together you will get a total amount of contents to be insured. But don't forget garages, sheds and external buildings.
Make sure you are true with your valuations, although lower contents levels could decrease your premium. In the event of a claim you would be underinsured so you would not be able to replace some of your items.
