Flood information
Around 5 million people, in 2 million properties, live in flood risk areas in England and Wales. The Environment Agency has an important role in warning people about the risk of flooding, and in reducing the likelihood of flooding from rivers and the sea.
Is the property near a river, stream or ditch?
Is the land in a hollow or at the bottom of a hill where floodwater could collect?
Is the area at risk from flooding from the sea?
Is the area at risk from groundwater flooding?
Do river or coastal flood defences protect your property?
The Agency operates a 24 hour Flood line service on 0845 988 1188 that provides a useful source of information when investigating whether a particular location is at risk of flooding. Flood line also provides advice on what to do before, during and after a flood.
