UK house prices fall again after rise

Posted on June 24th 2009

The price of houses in the UK dropped in June after rising steadily for the past quarter.

According the research by the property website Rightmove, average house prices dropped by £1,000 in June to £226,436.

The report said that people were being put off selling their houses because of a lack in demand.

In the south there were 45 less houses on the market while the figure was 40 in the north.

In the north-west of the country prices rose by 4.5 to average £170,562 while East Anglia recorded the biggest fall with prices falling by 6.6 to £207,166.

Rightmove says that first-time buyers are being put off by rising lender margins and interest rates.
