Travelling further for the perfect home

Posted on September 03rd 2007

A new study has revealed that British homebuyers are travelling further in their quest to find the perfect home.

Research from insurance company Zurich has shown that the average homeowner will travel 125 miles over their lifetime to move into their ideal house.

Additionally, despite 53 per cent of those surveyed saying that they disliked moving, the average Briton is estimated to have owned and lived in an average of three to five houses.

Zurich Insurance's home underwriting manager Steve Gilbert said: "The British obsession with finding the perfect property is still going strong, with homeowners prepared to move hundreds of miles to find the perfect home in the perfect location."

He added: "Homeowners should be aware that a climb up the property ladder has important implications beyond just the move itself. One in six (17 per cent) homeowners admit that making the necessary changes to their household insurance can be overlooked.
