The changing lifestyle of budget-strapped Brits
Some trends are emerging to show that Brits have found similar ways to save money to afford rising food and fuel costs, according to the 'Changing face of British homes' survey.
More single parent families - 35 per cent - have said that they have had to cancel a holiday, with 26 per cent of couples also not 'going away' during the next few months.
Over nine in ten single-parent households have said that they have had to cutback with 82 per cent of all families also having to make savings.
One of the last "luxuries" to be sacrificed, however, is employing others, such as cleaners or laundry services. Only four per cent of households said that they had sacked home helps.
Ruth Wilkins, head of communications at Legal & General's general insurance business said: "The research highlights just how much our homes and home life can change as a result of wider influences on our lives.
