Staycation fever could hit home insurance
Amid the credit crunch, almost ten per cent of Americans are planning to make the most of their local surroundings this summer, and take a 'staycation'.
A staycation is the term used to refer to the decision to take time off work but to simply rest at home instead of venturing far and wide on holiday.
Buying a new barbeque, catching up with friends or simply rolling over and enjoying long lie ins are the order of staycations, a phenomenon likely to catch the imagination of Brits, too.
However, with Brits being Brits, an extended stay at home will no doubt lead to some DIY or other tampering with the home, and so for those hoping to take a staycation should ensure that their buildings insurance or contents insurance are both up to scratch.
Other possible downfalls could be a barbeque fire being placed too near to the garden fence or perhaps too much wine being consumed at a dinner party, leading to an accident.
