Start saving for your baby daughter's career choices
The top five career choices for girls aged five to 11 - vet, hairdresser, teacher, artist or singer may well cost up to £22,000 in training and apprenticeship allowances more than boy's career aspirations - professional footballer, police officer, fire fighter, car mechanic or F1 driver.
Which could mean that 'Daddy's little princess' may well need about £1,500 per year saved from birth to aged 18 just to start her on her chosen route.
Gary Lacey, group product manager at Norwich and Peterborough Building Society, commented: "These findings show how stereotyped children's career aspirations are at a young age.
"However, it is interesting that girls are torn between the decision to become a vet or a hairdresser - two jobs requiring very different skills. It is also interesting to see that both teaching and policing are devoid of stereotyping with girls and boys voting them as favoured career choices."
