Pregnant woman trapped by kitchen fire
A pregnant woman was treated for smoke inhalation after being trapped by fire in her Belfast home, it has been reported.
The woman, in her 30s, was trapped after a fire started in her kitchen, but thankfully escaped burns in the accidental blaze as she was upstairs at the time.
However, although the homeowner will be pleased not to be seriously hurt, the smoke damage could provide a significant financial bill, from which it could be difficult to recover if her home insurance is not comprehensive.
Home contents insurance can protect homeowners from the financial fallout associated with damage caused to a home by smoke, as well as flooding and fire itself.
Often, mischievous or adventurous children are the source of damage caused to a home, with drawing on walls, broken DVD players and spilt drinks on laptops all likely to set a homeowner back financially.
