Phone costs eat into savings
Financiers are all urging householders to shop around for the best deals on utility bills, mortgages and home insurance premiums, but sometimes that can prove quite costly if the telephone numbers have 'premium rate' charges.
Regulator, PhonepayPlus, already has a website, but has launched a new mobile text number that will show customers the cost per minute of the number they intended to call, which means consumers can decide if they can get the information elsewhere.
The new text service is charged at the standard network rate and the texts received back will be free. The number is 76787 which can be easily remembered, as it spells SMSus.
