Our dog is an arsonist
A family in Llanfairfechan, Conwy has suffered thousands of pounds worth of damage to their home after being the victims of an arson attack. Fortunately for the family the culprit has been found and goes by the name of Alfie, the family dog or 'Alfonist' as he is now being called.
The incident occurred when the dog is believed to have turned on the electric hob, which was under a deep fat fryer that would have lead to the blaze. The family had smoke alarms fitted around the house, which alerted them to the fire, and they all managed to escape the house free from any injuries. The dog sleeps in the kitchen and the family reported that he had turned on the cooker a couple of times previously.
Paul Gregson the father of the household said: "We wouldn't have heard him bark because we sleep at the opposite end of the house, and the first we knew was the fire alarm going off at 12.40"
On this occasion the family were fortunate as they had smoke alarms fitted throughout the house, which emphasises the message firefighters are trying to put across to the public. Fire alarms do save lives so it is vital to have them in the home.
