Online shopping may touch 5bn this weekend
This weekend - the weekend after payday means that presents, groceries and other treats totalling £5 billion will be ordered over the internet, for delivery before December 25th.
The number of adults who shop online has risen to almost 30 million, and so credit card providers urge that shoppers protect themselves from identity theft and fraud.
Sandra Quinn, director of communications at APACS the UK payments association, predicts: "We reckon that Monday 3 December is likely to be one of the busiest online shopping days of the year.
"Simple measures such as protecting your PC with the most up-to-date anti-virus software can go a long way to ensuring your safety when using the internet."
