More council tax increases for families
Posted on March 30th 2009
Families are believed to be paying £726 more in council tax since labour came into power.
New data has shown how bills will be more than double in some areas hitting many families hard. Families are struggling with the current economic climate and to have an increase in council tax will push some families over the edge. Some parts of England can look forward to a 105 increase where others have a much higher increase of 124.
Tories have called for a freeze in council tax bills in England like its neighbours Scotland or a fairer system as the council tax system is unfair and doesn’t appear to be working in many areas. There should be a new system put into place to be based on the ability to pay.
