It shouldn't happen to an insurer

Builders of the Pinnacle tower, which is planned to be the tallest building in London, have damaged the adjacent building – which belongs to Lloyds insurance firm, Hiscox.

Offices in the insurance firm have suffered from water leaking into the building, and have discovered holes that have been smashed into the walls.

Court proceedings have now been initiated.

Hiscox said, in a statement to Insurance Times: "We have had water ingresses, holes pecked in and innumerable scrapes and bashes to our building.

"Access to Great St. Helen's is regularly blocked so that at times it is isolated from the emergency services. We just want those involved in the development to have regard for their neighbour."

For all householders who have ever cursed damage caused by builders, and have had to claim through their own home insurance policies, this will no doubt strike a chord.ADNFCR-1193-ID-18404626-ADNFCR
