I'm going to work - I may be sometime
British workers are commuting further afield to their place of employment and the loss in leisure time at home eats into opportunities to spend time with children, or to exercise.
Ten per cent of employees have a two hour commute every day, and they count the cost in fares or fuel expenses, lost relaxation and their health as commuters spend an average of just 18 minutes a day exercising - six minutes less than the UK population as a whole.
Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services[comma] commented: "For many hard working Britons it seems there are simply not enough hours in the day.
"For some, the amount of time spent at work has overtaken time spent at home and for all workers there are a huge number of drains and challenges to their free time. With this in mind, it is not surprising that a lot of people don't get round to keeping on top of their finances."
