Housing body shortfall

Posted on January 14th 2009

The Housing Executive expects a £25 million shortfall this year when low sales hit rock bottom.

Two years ago the income was more than £100 million when over 2,000 homes were sold. In comparison to this, this year it has said that it only expects around 50 properties to be sold.

Although the decrease in income is expected, there will be £10.5 million funding boost given which will be announced shortly. This money is to be allocated to house building, home improvements, grants and repairs.

The Housing Executive has said that they have seen this short fall coming for some time, however even with lower funds, they are going to do all they can to kick start the economy.
