House fire traps six children
A woman has been arrested after leaving her six children home alone after a fire was started at the house.
The house in Oldham was noticed to have smoke coming from its kitchen and a young man from the local area began an attempt to rescue the children after one of the six trapped in the home was seen shouting from a bedroom window.
Speaking to the Oldham Advertiser, Mick Harris, watch commander at Chadderton Fire Station, said: "The fire was in the kitchen and there were six children upstairs. We put the fire out and rescued the children."
The potential consequences of the fire could have been fatal, but in this instance the family were lucky to escape injury.
While this type of incident is rare, house fires can be surprisingly common.
