House sales boom
New figures released by Agency Express Property Activity Index show that the number of properties sold in February rose by 136% compared to January. This sows the highest number of sales in the market since March 2008, showing positive signs of recovery in the housing market.
Central England was the only region not to see a substantial rise in house prices compared with areas such as the South West, South East and London having house sales more than double compare with January. Nottingham led the way in the recovery with an increase of 206.3%, triple the number of sales seen in January.
Managing director from Agency Express, Stephen Watson said: "Whilst we expected February to be a better month for house sales than January, the levels we have seen have exceeded our expectations. It appears that the growing economic optimism has permeated the housing market and people are making the decision to move."
