House fire leaves one injured
A house fire in Hayle has left a woman with minor injuries after narrowly escaping the blaze. The fire started after a candle was left on a downstairs table. Sometime before 10pm on Thursday night it fell causing the semi-detached property to fill with smoke.
Fire crews were alerted to the flames after a local resident spotted the flames in the downstairs window of the property. It took three crews from Camborne and St Ives to extinguish the flames using a arsenal of breathing equipment, blaze jets and a thermal imaging camera in order to locate the source and tackle the fire.
A spokesman from the fire crews said: "Fortunately on this occasion the occupant of the property involved in fire escaped relatively unscathed. Candles are actually a rising cause of fire. Every year, a growing number of people are killed or injured because they are careless with them."
