House fire claims two lives

A house fire in Birmingham has claimed two lives and has left two properties damaged. West Midlands fire service where called to a semi-detached house at 4.30am Thursday morning after a fire had broken out. The fire has taken the lives of both residents believed to be sleeping at the time of the fire. The property was completely destroyed in the blaze as well as causing damage to neighbouring houses.

A 20-year-old man has been treated for smoke inhalation and burns to his hands after attempting to enter the property in a last stitch attempt to rescue those trapped inside.

Fire crews and police will now investigate the property to try and determine the source of the fire. In the mean time residents from adjacent properties have been evacuated for their own safety.
