Homeworking adds insurance questions
Working from home has been touted as one way to avoid some business costs associated with the credit crunch.
Certainly, there will be many employees in the UK wishing they could work from home instead of filling up at the forecourt once again.
But for those lucky enough to work in the comfort of one's sofa or kitchen table, it must be remembered that home insurance details should be revised before setting up a home office.
Most accidents already occur at home, and by spending an extra 40 hours a week at home the likelihood of a further accident is high.
Contents insurance however can offer financial assistance in the event of a laptop being covered in tea, or if a computer wire is tripped over, bringing the monitor crashing to the ground.
With children around the new home office there is also an added threat to expensive items, but contents insurance can ensure that - in the event of an accident - financial assistance may be awarded to help recover the costs.
