Homeowners warned to keep insurance in check
June and July saw home insurance providers receive 180,000 requests for financial aid due to bad weather, it has been reported, as providers are now urging homeowners to ensure their policies are both accurate and up to date.
One common problem among contents insurance policy holders is that of under insurance.
Under insurance occurs when a homeowner takes out a policy based on the amount of possessions they own at the time, and then fail to keep the insurance company informed when they update TVs, replace DVD players or renovate entire kitchens.
As a result, a home insurance policy may not cover the full amount of possessions in the house should a flood occur due to more bad weather throughout autumn.
