Government Minister promises Broadband for everyone in Britain

Posted on January 16th 2009

Around 40 of homes in the UK do not have broadband internet access, however in Lord Carter’s report he is promising that every household will have access to a minimum download speed of 2MB broadband by 2012.

In his speech he said that the internet is now not just a luxury and that it is used for many purposes, in working environments and at home.

The initial report will suggest the Government to consider a public Broadband network for all to use, making use of the mobile phone networks and the standard landline networks.
