Glasgow home destroyed in flooding misery
A family in Glasgow are coming to terms with the loss of their possessions following the second flood to their home in three months.
Lisa Nelson and Alex Paterson suffered devastating damage to their maisonette after vandals broke in and tampered with their plumbing, leaving their home to flood and destroy almost everything the couple owned.
The couple, who let their apartment privately, have now had to throw away sofas, beds, TVs, a computer and items of clothing and books bought for their children, which have all been destroyed beyond repair.
Of course such a disaster will come as a significant reminder to homeowners across the country that home insurance is not just a vital purchase for financial reasons but can offer peace of mind at a time when devastation could otherwise take over a family's life.
Ms Nelson told the Glasgow Evening Times: "We just can't go on living like this - it's a nightmare and is having a terrible effect on the boys.
"We've been living between my parents and Alex's parents but 11 weeks on from the flood we don't have a home. We've got nothing."
