Flood water becoming farcical for couple
A couple living in their dream home are losing patience with the flood water that is gathering each time heavy rain falls, it has been reported.
Eileen and Jim Paris have alerted both the Scottish Borders Council and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency about the faulty drainage systems, but despite Scottish Water promising to investigate nobody has taken responsibility for the road.
"There's nothing happening. Nobody wants to take responsibility for it. We repair the potholes up and down the road, we do the weeding and we cut back the trees off our own backs, but there's no way we're repairing this," Mrs Paris told Hawick Today.
"Every time there's heavy rain, the garden's flooded. There's water flowing like a burn through the dyke and onto the road.
