England faces new taxes

Posted on January 19th 2009

It is believed that England will be facing new household tax, which is been bought in consulting Parliament.

The government have found a clause in the Climate Change Act, which means that all councils are free to charge households up to £100 without MPs voting the issue first. Councils are in the process of bidding on the first pay-as-you-throw pilot scheme. MPs will only be required to vote if they want to introduce a different type of tax scheme.

The new tax will include a bin chip tax which would see households invoiced based on the weight of the contents of their bin. A weekly collection tax, which would see households wanting to receive weekly rubbish collections paying an extra charge. A Bin bag tax, which would see households, charged extra for non-recyclable waste. Last but not least a Bin size tax, which would see households, charged according to the size of their bin bag.

With the current financial issues and many people loosing their jobs, the new tax will be faced with a backlash by the public due to already struggling with paying the bills and taxes.
