Doorstep salesman upsetting locals
Home owners are being warned by trading standards and the police that they must be wary of doorstep salesman in the Redbridge area who are forcing people to purchase crime prevention products.
A number of complaints have been received by police crime prevention officers and trading standards from locals who have been approached by doorstep salesmen who want to make appointments to sell crime prevention products such as property-marking pens and shredders, as well as CO2 detectors.
Before home owners commit themselves to purchasing these products they should shop around first to ensure that they are receiving a genuinely priced product. If they do purchase the products from the salesman and spend over £35 they must be issued with cancellation rights and a minimum seven days cooling off period.
