Doncaster enters list of burglary hotspots
Doncaster and Bristol have been named as burglary hotspots of the UK, it has been reported.
While seven of the top 20 high-risk postcodes in Britain are found in London there have been some more surprising inclusions to the list of dangerous areas to leave valuables lying around.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, which commissioned the research, explained that any area can achieve a high-risk status.
"Unfortunately I'm not amazed to see several London postcodes in the top 20 when it comes to theft and burglary, but I didn't expect to see Doncaster and Bristol snatching the top spots from London.
"It proves any area, regardless of reputation, can be classed as high-risk."
Valuable or sentimental possessions are important to protect at all times but in the event of a break-in it is home insurance which may make the difference between heartache and a less stressful period.
