Derelict house raises concerns for neighbours
Posted on March 02nd 2009
Concerns have been increased by a family who are living next door to a derelict house that has not been lived in for a decade.
The married couple, who are worried about the effects that the empty house is having on their 10 month old twins, have lived in their house for four years and say that they are embarrassed by the state the property is in, including the issue that it is housing pigeons and their droppings.
The owner of the derelict property has already been taken to court in November 2006 and October 2007 for breaching section 215, an enforcement notice that required the land or building owned to be tidied, however the only work that has been carried out is a new roof.
Mrs Sippetts, who lives next door works from home and says that she is embarrassed by the state the property is in and feels that it is a shame that the property has just been left, especially as so many people require homes.
The 215 notice is still outstanding against the owner who is still required to carry out the work, however the local council is considering taking further action.
