Child caught from burning building

A mother of a 3-year-old child was forced to throw him from a fist floor window into her neighbour's arms after her child coughing from smoke inhalation woke her. Pauline Connor, 37 was very lucky to have woken to the sound of her child choking as she has no smoke alarm fitted to the property.

Her first thought was to save her child so she proceeded to throw him from the first floor window into the arms of her neighbours followed shortly by herself. Both of them where taken to hospital were they where later discharged with no injuries sustained.

It is believed that a cooker was left on this started the fire, which would have spread through the house in minutes. On this occasion the occupants of the house where lucky but in the future they might not be so lucky. It is very important to have a smoke alarm fitted to your house not only does it save lives but it can also alert you to a potential fire giving you the chance to avoid complete disaster.
