Brits warned to take care on Bonfire Night

One in 16 Brits (six per cent) is planning to host a fireworks event next week to celebrate Bonfire Night, it has been reported.

Figures from esure show that the number of Brits holding either a bonfire or fireworks party is one reason behind a likely spike in the number of claims made on home insurance policies throughout the next ten days.

But those hosting a party are reminded by the insurer that not only could the host's belongings be damaged but if a guest is hurt through a host's negligence there is a possibility the guest could sue.

Thankfully a comprehensive home insurance policy may cover the host in such circumstances, although it is important to check to understand the small print first.
