Brits staying in to save Saturday night cash
Nearly two thirds of Brits questioned have said that they are planning on staying in most Saturday evenings as a result of the credit crunch.
With 84 per cent of Britons now making a conscious effort to rein in their spending, almost two in three (60 per cent) Brits are making staying in the new going out.
Citing evenings in with friends for dinner as a popular choice, the new attitude to a Saturday night is to save on travel, food and drink, as one analyst pointed out.
"When you take into account travel, food, drink and entertainment, the cost of a Saturday night out can soon add up," said one analyst, of the latest figures.
"Recently Brits are choosing to Stay In With The Joneses, and invite friends and neighbours round instead for a night in."
Surprisingly however, 15 per cent of Brits are considering taking things somewhat further, and contemplating joint supermarket trips in order to save on fuel bills.
