Alarms won't lower home insurance premiums

New research released today (July 24th) has suggested that home insurance premiums are only affected slightly by installing an alarm system.
Insurance website Tescocompare.com conducted a study into the merits of various home security measures and found that adding an alarm only reduces the price of a policy by £5 on average.
Paul Baxter, director of commercial and partnerships for the website, explained that while an alarm serves as a deterrent to potential burglars, homeowners expecting to save a few pennies on insurance by getting one will be disappointed.
He said: "Installing alarms to your property or car will no doubt go some way to offering you peace of mind.
"However, if you are planning on adding extra security like this, solely because you want to lower your home or car insurance premium, you may find it does very little to bring down costs."
