Aberdeen is Scotland's worst for house break-ins
The Scottish government has released statistics that show Aberdeen as the worst city in Scotland for housebreakings, according to the BBC.
While the 2006-07 national average of number of housebreaking crimes per 10,000 people stands at 40, Aberdeen's stands at 82.
Other places with high house break-in rates include Dundee with 65 per 10,000 people, Glasgow with 62 and Edinburgh with 60.
However, the police responded that crime levels had dropped overall in many parts of Scotland since the 2005-06 study.
Speaking to the BBC, Grampian police chief superintendent Simon Blake said: "The force is pleased to note that the report covers a year in which its performance improved in many areas.
"As regards domestic housebreakings, the headline figure of 82 per 10,000 population is noted but further analysis does indicate that the force's concentration on domestic housebreakings is having success."
Scotland's justice secretary Kenny MacAskill has vowed to find a long-term strategy to fight crime.
