£900,000 paid out for flood damage
Following last month's torrential downpours in Moray, it has been estimated that the council will have to pay out over £900,000 to fix the flood damage caused to the council housing.
Elgin was mostly affected by the flooding, which was caused after heavy rainfall led to the River Lossie bursting its banks, leaving dozens of families with damage to their homes. Home owners in Fochabers and Rothes were also affected by the rivers sudden flood.
Moray council have estimated that they will have to pay out £900,000 to repair the homes damaged in Septembers flood, however they will also have to pay for the alternative accommodation that many of the families have had to live in whilst their homes become liveable again.
