200-year-old pub burns in Wales
A 200-year-old pub in Wales has been severely damaged in a blaze early yesterday (November 4th) morning, it has been reported.
The roof of the building has been almost completely destroyed after the fire woke the landlord and his wife in the early hours of the morning.
The pub, which celebrated its 200th anniversary last August, is situated in Wales' Neath Valley.
Roger Thomas, scene commander for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, was quoted by the BBC as saying: "We're not sure of the actual cause of the fire at the moment. The alarm was raised in the early hours of the morning, about 05:15 GMT.
"The landlord and his wife were obviously asleep at that point, the alarm was raised, they got out of the building and called 999."
Homeowners must ensure that their own building insurance is kept fully up to date and fully comprehensive in order to make sure they are kept free from any further surprises in the event of such an accident occurring to them.
